How to Eliminate the Empty Places In Your Life.

When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him.~Genesis 26:12 (NLT)

Had Isaac known that he was going to harvest “a hundred times more grain than he planted,” I wonder how much more seed he would have planted?

Here’s another thought – “What if Isaac wouldn’t have planted or sown any seed at all that year? What if he had decided to just keep that seed in his hand?” Ouch! He would have completely missed the blessing that God was just “waiting” to give to him. Come harvest time he would have been left standing in an empty field with nobody to blame, but himself.

The fact that our enemy the devil doesn’t want you to discover is that we serve a God who wants to bless you. But just like Isaac, to put ourselves in a position to receive a blessing we need to give God something to bless. There is another principle that Satan doesn’t want you to discover and thats the reality that every harvest starts with a seed.

Isn’t it amazing how creative church people can get when coming up with reasons why not to tithe and give offerings. I cringe every time I hear Christians explain why they don’t or won’t give. These are the same folks that keep rebuking the devil from their faith, family, and finances and yet never see any lasting breakthroughs. They always seem to be riding the struggle bus past the “empty fields” of their lives, marriages, and ministries.

If only they understood that the entire time they were “rebuking the devil,” the very seed that would have brought them the breakthrough the were praying for was never in the enemy’s hands – it was in their own. They refuse to give God anything to bless and then they wonder why God isn’t blessing.

Proverbs 3:9-10 (NLT) says it this way:

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.10 THEN he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.

Giving is an issue of faith. We have to sow (give) just like a farmer does. At first all the farmer sees is an empty field, but he puts his seed in the ground anyways because he knows that there is a principle at work which says, “As long as I don’t sow this seed, I’ll never see my empty fields turn into a harvest.”

Satan loves to watch God’s people struggle. He loves watching men and women who are full of potential stand in the empty fields of their lives struggling, stressed out, and discouraged. He probably laughs as he watches “believers” crying out to God for a blessing and then blaming God when that blessing doesn’t come knowing all the while that the very key that would bring their blessing is the seed thats is in their own hands.
